Go For It!

You can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will — Stephen King

How do you describe a football team that wins a regional championship seven times in a row (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010)? I’m certain everyone will easily agree that the team has one of the best training pitches, experienced team members and a great coach. But then everyone would be wrong, for none of these was true.
As a matter of fact, this team was not a “team” but a group of boys; had no coach or a football pitch; and the members had never played anywhere before. So how did they do it? How did this group of boys living on water – yes, practically living on top of water – go on to win football competitions against well-prepared and more advantaged teams, and make world history?
Most likely unknown by these boys, they had two success keys working for them: an idea (the starting place of all great achievements) and a will (remember, where there’s a will, there’s a way). With these two keys, the Panyee FC of Thailand has unlocked the door of greatness and written a story that has been shared a great number ot times, inspiring audiences the world over.
But I’m not going to tell their story; I’ll only share the one they created. As you watch the short video below, take note of all the pitfalls they encountered on the road to success (which is the fate of all who desire to taste greatness) – difficulty, impossibility (seemingly), mockery, lack of fund or support, doubts, pains or even physical hurt, risk, fear, toils and sweat, loneliness, despair, unfavourable conditions…. But more importantly, note how they fight to conquer the pitfalls with ideas, willpower, grit, abundant positive energy, faith, hope, the willingness to try, turning the deaf ear to mockery, giving it all it takes, trying anyway.
If this story does not inspire you to believe, dream big and pursue your dream with the desire to make a difference (especially in a country like Nigeria where people have ready excuses for not contributing to the growth of the society), then… I encourage you to watch the video again, and again, and again, until you’re inspired.
